If they get out and become popular on other communities, they no longer are able to accurately identify actual users of that community. Because 4chan is an anonymous imageboard, this is very important because it's the only way we can spot outsiders or others who don't fit in. They are part of our self preservation. When shit like now-redditfrog get loose and blow up like it did, any time it is posted here you are no longer able to tell if that person is a legitimate 4chan user or just some normalfag who downloaded a frog folder from their facebook and heard that this was the frog place. It's best to just abandon the former meme completely.
