>>3460595Well, the problem with your picture is that "2+2 = 4" can easily be proven, because "+" is a clearly defined binary operator and "2" and "4" are ordinals. Math is not rigid, it changes all the time, it's being invented, not discovered.
Religion, on the other hand, claims to know something about the universe we live in. You can't say that what you know from your physics course in high school is absolute truth. No physicist will ever claim that, because they know the nature of science. A thousand years ago "2+2" was 100. 500 years ago it became -10. Right now we're somewhere between 3 and 5. Will we ever get to 4? Probably not. Are we on the right path? Looks like it, but you never know.
This is why religion exists. For some people the uncertainty of science sucks more than religious dogmatism.
