When I was a child he started doing drugs like heroin etc, and he left us eventually, my mother kept him from me and didn't let us to contact but then she changed her mind and started shilling for him like I should start communicating with him and 2 year ago I started. Now he live in another city, he don't do drugs anymore and he's a good person now.

Hey if you want a similar case my father was also a drug dealer / user and when he had me and my mom broke up with him he went to rehab. To this day he still regrets it and for not learning from his mistakes the first time he's pretty much out of money for other reasons. He's a good guy but he did some stupid things and i do think he appreciates that at least i'm not revengeful towards him or anything. Now he just calls me from time to time to maybe go eat with him or wish me happy birthday or holidays.

We keep in contact pretty much because he has a big family. That's why he's not living under a bridge right now he uses the phone of one of his brothers or maybe my grandma.
If you ment by how i speak to him i just call him dad. He's pretty distant specially since he has thousands of problems to deal with since my mom broke up with him but i hear from him at least once every 3 months so it is a normal thing.
