>>3509538Yes. Kilts in the modern sense are a bit of a fabrication. About 200 years ago highland culture was dying and suddenly loads of idiots started romanticising it. The same Scotsmen who had previously and rightly seen highlanders as backward, tribal, thieves suddenly began to idolise them. Traditionally, the lowland Scots had far more in common with the English in terms of language, culture & society. Only in the modern times have they thrown away their 1000 year old heritage for a superficial misunderstanding of the highlander's savagery.
