>>3518843who knows. it's true that there are no cases in bulgarian but that's where the similarities end imo. you've got your articles seperate from the words, you've got different sentence structure, you've got denoting posession differently, etc. i think it's just a case of being the right age when my child brain was really receptive to that sort of thing. so i was able to pick it up just via context and other cues.
like i remember, there was this one episode of dexter's lab where his parents were forcing him to eat veggies, but he hated to those so he went to his lab and did some experiment on himself to make himself like veggies. so when he came out of the lab he said "strange... i don't feel different". and that made me think for a while that "different" meant "hungry", because i thought he expected to be hungry after the experiment and was surprised he wasn't.
tried to do the same thing with german a few years later, because we had a german channel on cable, showing dbz, but i was never able to learn a single word. so i don't think i have some superhuman affinity for languages
