and what's the etymology of gozda? over here the forest is called "gora" which i always thought was the language taking a wrong step along the way, since gora means mountain in protoslavic and most slavic languages as far as i know. also this would line up with the word for the upwards direction "gore", which would literally mean "towards the mountain". or the other way around. not sure which word came first
