The more I thought about it, the more I realized that not only is it bad at following the plot from what we know of the Imperial Remnant's condition from supplementary materials and the OT, but it doesn't follow TFA's plot that well either. Snoke is built up to be an important character who apparently managed to get Luke to act OOC even though Sheev failed to do that, but dies without fanfare and without explaining where this Sith Lord randomly came from and WHY Sheev didn't try to murder him the way he tried to off Maul during the OT period. And the entire Finn subplot was unsatisfying and hardly led up to anything and felt like it distracted from the characters I wanted to see like Luke. R2. Chewbacca. R2 especially is practically a background character (but not 3PO, who merely suffers from not having R2 around to make banter with) while BB-8 doesn't have nearly the charisma or charm and rubs me off as trying to appeal to the kids in the same way Jar-Jar did, not entirely fitting the tone of the situation in the process. Porgs did a better job in filling that role, but then again you hardly see them because they're tied to Chewbacca who only gets a handful of scenes because FOCUS ON THE NEW CHARACTERS.
