Sometimes it just seems so unfinished. Today I installed f.lux, and the icon only shows up if I click it. The gap in pic related is where the icon is.
Also, usually what takes 5 minutes in Windows takes me 15 minutes in Linux.
And some programs I install only run the gui with the terminal open, which seems weird.
And proprietary stuff on Linux runs like poop. Examples: Alteras stuff, MATLAB (that might be because it's pirated).

I use lubuntu. That's another thing I like about linux, my computer is always quiet (crap hardware here), whereas with Windows the fan was kind of noisy and the harddrive would go *CLUNK*.

just use whatever system you can make function the best. for me it is win 7. i dont even boot into sierra anymore. gahnoo/loonix was good around the time vista and 7 was out, but it just turned into garbage.

Does Linux have a setting to keep the hard drive active the whole time it's on? Windows even does that with a high end computer, also freezes the computer for a second while spinning back on. I had to switch to SSDs to get rid of that crap.

Never messed with low level HAD settings in Windows or Linux. Out of the box, dual booting on the same hardware, disk I/O is much slower on Windows.

What kind of stuff do you work on? Is it specifically meant to run on Windows? I always found it interesting the argument for Linux is good for devs, but in my limited exposure, everyone develops on Windows or MacOS.

Currently an ASP.NET MVC site. Web dev was never my thing, but I can compare VS2017 to other IDEs I've used, and it blows. Though I can't always tell whether to blame it or Windows for it being so slow. IDEA, Android Studio, and the Unity editor all run better on Linux, so a hypothetical VS for Linux might suck less.
