Dolphin Fact of the Day

ID:9x2JnLB2 No.3623063 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Dolphins have been observed displaying learned behaviour.
Bottlenose dolphins in Australia have been observed teaching their young to use tools. They cover their snouts with sponges to protect them while foraging for prey amongst rocks on the sea floor. This only appears to be transferred by mothers to daughters.
Another learned behavior was discovered among Brazilian river dolphins, where males have been observed using grasses and sticks as part of a sexual display.
