>>3633434You will probably have a harder time at making new friends here than you would have in the usa. At least when I visited america people struck me as more open and outgoing and welcoming than here in switzerland.
On the plus side we have a rich culture, I'll just go ahead and advertise my beloved city basel some:
>museums on every corner, world famous beyeler museum for example >good night live, from jazz clubs to underground techno clubs, you are sure to find a place to go in the evening>if you like drugs, did you know that lsd was invented here, and that at one time we had more weed shops in town than bakeries?>best football/soccer club of the whole country>fasnacht, basically 3 days a year the whole city goes crazy and turns into a giant party, rich in culture though>rhein, river to chill out in the summer and go swimming in>famous university rich in history with giant university library, Nietzsche used to teach here for example>c.g. jung, leonhard euler, albert hofmann, famous people used to chill out here>it's a city, but still cozy and you can get everywhere with a bicycle in under 20 minutes, or with the public transport>take the train and in 3 hours you're in the alps for a hiking weekendThat's some of the perks of Basel top of my head. But yeah, compared to other places in europe, Switzerland is pretty expensive, but if you work here that shouldn't be a problem, because it also pays very well.
