Part of the advantage of this place over reddit is that we are faceless. Persona leads all to quickly to an overbloated sense of self-importance, just look at your average tripfag on basically any board. Being faceless allows people an assload more freedom.
It's the difference between a riot and a single actor. Single actor may keep on-topic, and may accomplish a bit, but is limited to their own being. A mob can't be really directed or controlled, but it can shed individuals with little to no issue, and what it does accomplish, though random, will likely leave a lasting impression.
