There's practically nothing in christianity that's original and not adapted from european pagans. Christianity is just crypto-paganism.
It makes perfect sense for god to try and start another religion after his first attempt at it was so badly fucked up by the romans. Islam is a good second attempt, the followers read their books literally and rather than changing the religion to fit different people they just kill nonbelievers.
