Is love a social construct /bant/? Did cavemen feel love as we understand it? I think courtship was a thing, where males would posture, and females would choose sound mates, but in many cases females would just get raped right? So ultimately men and women chose to work together as a unit out of sheer pragmatism, right? And any consequent fondness felt was the result of their reciprocal value to maintain a tribal unit, right? But sentimentality isn’t love, so ultimately is love a social construct to ensure that men don’t rape women en masse without consequence so we can produce more workers?
