English is not the language of the land.
There is no cultural significance for the Chinese/Indian/Malay to speak English as it is not native.
But yet it is a prerequisite if you want to eke out a living here.
There is no tangible incentive to become proficient in your mother tongue (Chinese/Malay/Tamil etc.)
Hence. the common 'refrain' that Singapore has no culture.
2nd: We were taught to be globalist from a young age
The Gahmen really bought into the Globalization meme very early on and taught two entire generations that we live in a 'global' community.
As a result, many native Singaporeans leave Singapore to spread their wings after growing up here.

3rd: Things are more restrictive and expensive here
4th: Singapore is more stressful than every other country
Singaporeans work longer hours than even the Japanese/Koreans
5th: There are no growth prospects here.
Singapore has been going on an inevitable slow decline.
We are fast becoming a 'retirement home'.
Our economy is shit becuz the Gahmen bought heavily into the 'oil' meme and lost.
