everybody thought it was going to be Vidme, but you can tell how well that went.

Some may consider Twitch to be a competitor, you can upload videos to it just like on youtube surprisingly.

Twitch has been tentatively approaching it, they have videos now and it's no longer exclusively about gaming. It's not suited to be primarily a video hosting platform, yet, though.

Lots of alternatives overall, Vimeo comes to mind. Most aren't very good, though.

There are plenty but nobody uses them so there are no videos on it. There are some great no-bullshit youtube clients though:

Hooktube.com - Webclient made by a /g/-nerd. No browser crashing javascript bs and no data mining. Also 1 or 2 hitler videos are always trending there which is great.

Newpipe: Android app. Allows audio only playing mode and lets you download vid or audio with one click. Not on google playstore for obvious reasons so get it on the F-droid free and open source software store.
