I've been working on my own little political landscape. I just wanted to share my map with you guys and maybe ask for suggestions.

Those [?-1->7] spots are newly implemented countries that haven't named yet. I was hoping maybe some of you could come up with a good name for them.

Does Pilopilla have a backstory?
I was thinking of making the "?-2" country a newly formed nation, freed from Pilopilla, which is backed by the other nations in the region, causing tensions in the area.
Just a thought.

Pilopillia was founded from descendants of the people from the "Seqaar" area. They remained largely neutral for over 400 years, choosing not to engage in other people's conflicts.

During the War of Centurions however, the Demiseqa Empire (Former Seqaar) invaded Pilopillia to gain a military advantage over the Great Fields and what was once "Mizmutha".

Make sure that you do some research on conlangs, or constructed languages. Ensure that you aren't just making up random sounds and then connecting it to common place names, like it seems to me with "Lezstanistan"

If you create a couple language families here and there, some rules for how the languages work, and pools of phonemes that you can pool from to ensure it's logical. This will help flesh out any lore you might have in the world (like a single part of one continent being named similarly to another continent's main language, or having a group of countries with similar endings that cooperate with eachother)

If you can explain why places are called certain things then your map gets an entire new dimension of life and believability.

The reason its called West Kamil is because the dictator's family began in the western region of the country, along the lake. While it could've been called the "South", the majority of the people live along the lake and other regions are aligned based on this perspective.

"North Kamil"is primarily called so because it is the most northernregion of the former Kamil-Shong Empire.

I actually did construct a con-lang but it was only for the Vorshict people and its not entirely complete.

You're right though. "Lezstanistan" is a bit cringy in terms of naming.

The residents of Wisteria had enjoyed prosperity under the rule of Pilopillia. However a sudden rise in independence movements in the area, with a referendum by the state government coming with a landslide for Independence, the Pilopillan nation was forced to act. Rolling in their military, This was seen as civil rights violations from others in the region, and the Wisterians found themselves allies.
If another power in the nation had done this out of the will to intervene on behalf of the weak, or something deeper, is unsure.
The future seems unclear for the newly formed nation of Wisteria, with Pilopillian residents growing more resentful, and tensions between the two nations at their limits.

I think the beginning of the word is fine and phonologically pleasing, but I would drop references to real-world cultures, like naming places "-istan". For example, instead of making everything "description"+a or "thing"+stan, you could sub it out for a different set of sounds, like a u, or an o, or have a prefix and suffix pair. Say you had a pair of nations (?-2 and ?-3 for the sake of example, don't have to go with these names) named "Wocalcu" and "Woreyu" or something similar. It would show that they have a similar history, potentially share a language, or have some form of relations in the modern day, even without any knowledge of the lore.

(I wouldn't go with those exact names because I just made them up randomly but you get what I mean.)

Like, for example, if you have Seqaar and Pilopillia as nations with an intertwined backstory, you could have Pilopillia have a name that is from the language of the Seqaar people rather than their own and they kept it despite it not necessarily being their native tongue. You don't have to change it of course, it's your material, but it's an example of what I'm trying to say.

Its a bit of a strange one.

This universe doesn't have the capacity to make motors or rotors the traditional way. Copper doesn't exist and instead cobalt is the primary metal.

The primary source of energy for this world is coal, some minor forms of renewable energy (wind and hydro) but the main power source is "Krii".

Developed by the strange tribal monks of the "Se Veluy Foorst", Krii crystals emit light and is used for most forms of energy use.

The current era (about 250CSY) is technologically and culturally similar to the 1930s.

People arose from the area now known as Kiekill and spread outwards. There are rumours of beast but with limited and slow communication between countries due to lack of any capacity to do so, no-one is sure.

I think i understand what you are saying.

Vorshict and Floyts (or Fellytia) are of similar descendants and the language they share is quite similar.
For example: In Floyts, "Work" is Arba but in "Vorshict", Work is Arbate

Is this what you mean?

Yes, that's basically what I mean, but having it reflect in the names of the nations themselves. Floyts and Vorshict are believably similar (they sound like Welsh and German influence to me even though they aren't closely related languages, but it's a fictional language anyway.) and if you applied that logic to the rest of the nations, or at least most, then the world might feel more connected.

For example, it's a bit strange to see the nations of Hywnocrwb, Great Impyre of Bluerun, and Te Awam all right next to eachother in close proximity. If it's justified in lore then it's fine, but it's just an example of dissociation that could come from a dissonorous list of nations.

Hywnocrwb is based off of Wales and the Welsh language and Bluerun is based on England. There was a previous conflict between the two nations over control of the whole island and so I thought that I could reflect the conflict between the Highlanders and English in this universe.

Sounds fine, and where does Te Awam fit into it? Where did the Bluerun people come from in this universe (because the English were a product of Anglo-Saxons, Romans, French, and Vikings.) What about the archipelago people? I just feel like a short history, including how languages moved or stayed or changed, would be good.

I'll give you a short history of Bluerun and the Morkantian Continent.

Historic people of Almos, who spoke a lang similar to English, travelled across the Freetian Ocean to Drinnia (One island in the United Islands) and onwards to Bluerun.

After establishing themselves, they instead moved North to Orsia/Orsland and remained there for a few hundred years because the wildlife and terrain was very harsh and deadly.

Some remained however, forming the tribal hunting society of Hwynocrwbn down South and the slightly more stable land of Te Awam.
(They formed different languages and culture during the absence of the original settlers)

When the Orsians re-migrated back onto Morkantia, there was a power struggle between the more technologically advanced Orso-Morkans and the Hwynocrbwn people. Te Awam was left alone for a while but was eventually annexed as a "Hiatal State" just like "Hwynocrbwn" was.

There was also eventually a monarch implemented and while Bluerun didn't have English exactly like ours, (The Country was originally called the Sout Impyre of Bluerun) it is somewhat similar.

the kinetic energy is the force that causes the rotation but rotation doesn't do anything without a device to cause the generation of electricity
perhaps these crystals generate more energy if the get rotated around a nu-cobalt shell?
and how do people use a crystal to power things? plug ins?

Sounds cool, and reasonable. However, I would definitely tweak their languages and names to better represent how connected they are. If the split was over the course of only a few hundred years, the differences in language would be considerably smaller than the names of the lands would have you believe. For example, Shakespearean english is only around 400 years old. If this language split was over a thousand years, it might only be as different as Frisian and English. You can justify the further differences in spelling using in-world innovations and non-standardized systems, like having two competing printing presses, competition between regional spelling techniques, or a lack of spelling at all until they both independently invented it, but I would certainly make them more similar.

You could also always tweak other bits as well, like how long ago the split occured, or something. But it's just something to consider.

Bare in mind, this is partially fantasy.

Coating a cyclindrical cobalt core in a wet, cement-like mixture of Krii crystal dust, water and and iron flakes, a magnetic field is generated. When the Krii coating is slightly hardened and adhered to a metal shell, the cobalt core will begin to spin and this can be utilised for rotational kinetic energy.

I wrote the science for it a long time ago and its kinda weird typing it back out.
