The distance from perth to hawaii isn't that great for a plane to take a 2.5 hour difference (2.5 = 5 hour discrepancy / 2 since going/ returning), unless the earth is NOT stationary, also after the triangulation is done, you would notice that on a 2D plane the distance is much shorter than the arc length of the globe, thus the hour reduction of a 2D model for a Boeing-747 is of about 0.82 hours less, thus just making the discrepancy larger. My main point is, that when not accounting for the earth's curvature and movement, the flight times would be much shorter, even without neglecting the wind currents, it still would account for more than half an hour of time error (commercial airlines top speed is about 614 mph, therefore where did those 307 miles fit into your model?)
