Just take a look at how our cities are laid out. Besides a handful of them, you can’t really get anywhere unless you have a car. Hell, I couldn’t even get to Walmart in a reasonable time from my house without a car. Europeans on the other hand walk/bike a lot more than we do. One can argue that the American automotive industry (GM) is as much to blame as the fast food industry

Europe has better walkways and the cities are much more compact. Much more walking than driving and America is well known for making things too damn big.
