That's the basic, if you add other things, prep them, meat nonmeat substitute crumbles whatever- they need to soak in some sauce and a little olive oil.
You add additional spices later after it's simmered for at least a half hour (hour in the slow cooker).
Also, I would recommend doing the corn bread topping bake if you have a pressure cooker. It sounds complicated but it's easy, and corn bread is a must with good chili.
