When just 4 years earlier they were actually in a position to dominate and hold all of west and central Europe unchallenged. Their shit went downhill in 1943, when they started losing on the Eastern front, they lost Africa and the allies invaded Italy, and their supply lines of gold from Japan were cut by the Americans taking the Japs whole undivided attention in order for them to have any hope of surviving. One interesting guy was Otto Adolf Eichmann, he made it to Argentina only to be captured by a secret Israeli military unit in 1962 then executed in Israel, he reportedly said that he would "leap laughing into the grave because the feeling that he had five million people on his conscience would be for him a source of extraordinary satisfaction."
