Red hair is not actually a recessive gene (like blonde hair is) but rather it is an incomplete dominant. Incomplete dominant genes will "blend" with any dominant, recessive or other incomplete dominant gene.

To select the prime mate with specific desired physical traits you need to look back at least 2 generations in their bloodline as well. If the red hair doesn't appear in more than 2 others in their family, then it is safe to say that your potential future offspring would only have a 50/50 chance at best of having red hair, especially if you have black hair, since red and black do not mix well and you usually get one kid with black hair and one with red, but blonde and red hair does mix.

I'am lucky to know what all 4 of my grandparents look like along with my parents. In my case 3 grandparents had black hair and 1 was a blonde, 2 had blue eyes, 1 green and 1 brown. My mother has brown hair (blonde mixed with black hair) and blue eyes, father has black hair and brown eyes. I received the more dominant black hair from my father and have jet black hair, but my eyes were mixed and I came out with bright green eyes (brown mixed with blue), while my brother has blonde hair (grandparent's gene) and blue eyes.

Unfortunately, I don't know what any of my grandparents looked like.
My mom has brown hair/brown eyes, my dad has brown hair/blue eyes.
I have blonde hair/blue eyes.
gf has red hair/blue eyes, her mom has brown hair blue eyes, her dad has brown hair blue eyes, her mom's sister has red hair/blue eyes.
That is the extent of the genealogy that I am aware of.

Hmm. With the amount of blue eyes and light hair combos going on there, it is likely that a grandparent or great grandparent also had red hair and light eyes somewhere in the line. I'd guess it would be likely that any potential future offspring would obviously have light eyes, but also at minimum a 50/50 chance of having either red hair, or blondish red hair mix. But if you had at least 3 kids, the chances of having at least one kid having red hair is much higher. If it were me, personally, I would care having a red haired kid, I'd go for it, and by having at least 3 kids, there's also a high chance one will come out with just your hair color alone as well. My favorite hair/eye color combo in a woman is actually blonde with brown eyes, and black hair with blue or green eyes for males, but to each his own.

My gf soon to be fiancé is pretty shockingly redpilled in terms of intellectual honesty. Yeah I wish it was more common almost all of them dyed their hair. I became friends with one girl that is a natural blonde though (kinda more of a dirty blonde) and has brown eyes, but she got married so my chances are zilch lol.
