Because being famous means you won't be forgotton in the grand scheme of things. Look at people like Freddy Murcury, ask people NOW and he is still known, whether by namesake or by what he has done. Or lets take those two from supernatural. When they retire, people still know them. They won't dissapear from history. Ask someone 10 years from now about the show and they will say yes. I could even ask you 10 years from now and you'll say you remember them, whether thats good or bad. Their names are etched into the scrolls of history. They are, by all terms, people. People in the future who study 2000's entertainment will know them. Who cares if a little art shows up here and there? If you haven't been desensitized by that shit yet you aren't ready for an internet-connected world. As for Micheal Jackson, he had his own mental reasons for doing that, but afterwards he still remained famous. People still know him.

Now let me ask you if you know Jordan Carter. You might say no, you might say yes, but you won't know the Jordan that I know. I won't know the Jordan you know. You won't know me. I won't know you. When you die, you won't be remember by anyone but your family, but even then, how long will that honestly last? When I die, nobody will remember me, because I have no family that wants to remember me and the only one who will remember me will die with me.

Wanting to be famous is a cure to one of the greatest fears out there.

the fear of being forgotten.

People flocked to you to see you again. I don't believe in reincarnation, so I know you can't, but just the thought of being loved, and accepted, is a huge joy for me. Now lets pretend you were a serial killer. You know people will know who you are, especially if you have family, and whether its good or bad doesn't really matter if you don't have morals. You still have a legacy. You have something to follow. You have an effect on the world.

Ask yourself: If you were to die, today, at this second, what would you leave behind? How long would it last?

I ask myself this, almost every day. And every day, it hurts to answer. Its like "Ok, I'm going to leave behind....a job as a chef, some accounting skills, and some friends who barely know me." Does that sound like a good legacy to you? Not to me. No, a legacy is more like "I made billions in my lifetime and now my family never has to worry about poverty!" Or "I have used youtube/twitch/twitter/pornhub to improve the lives of (x) amount of people!" These people have worth in the eyes of the world

I'd rather have people talk/continue whatever I did rather than waste their time talking about the person I was. I mean you're comparing annoying things that you're actively trying to do (pushing through a hobby), with annoying things that just passively happen to you (being famous). The former seems worth it to me, while the latter seems useless
