Most soldiers at the time WW2 had bolt action rifles.
If you were to compare 10 Japs vs 10 US troops in a shoot out with only the standard issue rifle. The US troops would Dump a couple hundred rounds on The Japs in the time they would let off 2 shots each. It was a huge advantage. WW2 wasnt like COD where everyone had smg's it was primarily bolt action rifles. Thats why BF1 looked like a fucking joke no one had fucking semi automatic or automatic weapons they nearlly all had bolt actions.

The Garand is fucking awesome. It is still a decent infantry weapon today with modern furniture and optics. It was the best battle rifle of the war. The Soviets had the best SMG, the Krauts had the best MG. Although we had the only good heavy machine gun.

The Soviet standard weapon, like most other nations, was a bolt-action rifle of inferior combat capability than the M1. While the US could have used more SMG's and better squad-level machine guns, there was no doubt that the US had the best standard-issue rifle (unless you count the late-war adoption of the STG-44 when it made no difference and they used whatever they had until the end).

Because in a time when most soldiers were using full-sized rifle cartridges, it was good for a couple guys in the platoon to have an trenchbroom. Also, a submachine gun is smaller and less encumbering for an officer, whose first job isn't to fight.

An automatic weapon of the time chambered for a full sized rifle cartridge will be too heavy for the common rifleman to maintain high mobility. If the rifle is light enough for the rifleman to be highly mobile, the weapon will be too unmanageable due to recoil.

They weren't. Usually they had a carbine. The Thompson was nowhere near as widely used as people think, it kind of sucked. Terrible accuracy and range, even for an SMG, and it either had a tiny magazine or you used the drum and made an already stupidly heavy weapon even heavier (and unbalanced). They were only effective as weapons for vehicle crews.

Australia's leading gun expect here. The M1 Garand was issued by the US Navy upon declaration of war with japan in December of 1941. The primary fucntion of the gun was to shoot at things, but it could also be utilised as a psuedo-club with which you could whack people who were nearby.

The gun differs from other guns in that it is a different size and shape and also acts differently. The trigger is made of metal, as is most of the gun, including the bullets, but they also have gunpower or something similar.

Russians also had guns, but they were commieguns which were designed to be more resistant to the cold.

The M1 was quite well suited for corrosive ammo out of the gate, with its stainless gas system parts and troops cycled out of enemy contact to properly clean their weapons. Try reading Ordnance Went Up Front and get back to me. The BAR's had a terrible time of it, when their fixed, lightweight barrels weren't putting them out of action, they were rusting shut due to lack of stainless gas system parts as featured in the M1.
