It's the 14th century, and Sven is married to Karla. They have 4 kids and are happily married, but in secret Sven is gay and is in love with Bjorn, so on occasion they would sneak behind the mill and do bad things.
It's the 21st century and Barry has come out to his parents aged 13. Everyone's all like "you're gay and that's ok!" so he falls for Stephen and right from the get go lives a gay life.
What's the difference here? 4 kids. They've basically proven homosexuality is genetic so in the older days where homosexuality was considered a crime, gay genetics would be spread, but now in the 21st century, gays are encouraged to come out.
So tldr: the 21st centuries attitude towards gay acceptance is the best way of genetically ending the problem!
