start with a melody, eventually record your voice if you wanna remember it easily, then open your DAW (if you're using one) and just put drums, a bass and 2 leads (1 med 1 high) and sing over it and you're done

I'm no composer but I've released music before. What I do is I just play shit on my instrument and write down/record whatever sounds good, then after I have a handful of riffs I experiment with the order they're in and eventually a song just kind of coalesces.
