They injected the toe 4 times with anaesthesiac, cut into the nail on both sides, remove the excess nail, then burn the wound shut with some sort of electric shock device. But after the surgery when the anaesthesiac wore of it hurt like a mother fucker, first two days the painkillers I was given did fucking nothing at all. I would describe it as having your toe pulled on, twisted, smashed with a hammer, and burned with a blow torch all in one. So yeah, great fun. Also good fucking luck sleeping the night after surgery. By day 3 the painkillers would work for about 2-3 hours after taking them, and I could take them 3 times a day... so 9 hours of pain relief... also great fun. By the fourth day it was pretty bearable didn't really need the painkillers after that. The nurse reckoned she wouldn't have done the surgery when she took the bandage off afterwards. Surgery fucking sucks.
