Personally, I feel that if we changed to Celsius at this point, it would simply confuse the hell out of many Americans. Besides, the advantage to Fahrenheit is that it allows for a more detailed examination of whole temperature numbers without going into decimals, which while not technically wrong is a little silly to be resorting to with regards to everyday usage, like a weather report, trying to boil water, etc.
I do agree that we should follow the rest of the world with regards to metric measurements in all other respects. However, I think the world should switch to Fahrenheit for normal usage, and maybe reserve Celsius for scientific reference.
