It actually is addictive, but only to a very small, very addiction-prone portion of the population.

At my worst I smoked about 6 ounces a month. I'm also a recovering alcoholic and recovering benzo addict. Weed is nowhere near as bad as booze or benzos though.

And it's nowhere near as dangerous on the lungs as cigarettes. Not good for them but nowhere near as bad. I skated 15km straight the other day and didn't cough once.

No cases of cancer yet from it but they've only been around for 10 years or so. Nicotine isn't that healthy for your heart though, so you should be careful and not use too much of it.

It's the same as chewing nic gum, just much cheaper.

You can also rub it on your skin like a patch. It'd quell cravings either way.
