Idk, but technically in the "void" theory of the after life there will be nothing, so you wouldn't live in it, it'd just start going black and getting cold as you die then just nothing, and you never wake up for eternity. But that thought is quite unpleasant to most people. Truth is no one really knows, and no one can really confirm anyone actually coming back from the dead or communicating after dying still (except for paranormal detectives, which could be rigged or falsified).

The place where you await judgment in the afterlife is usually called or referred to as purgatory in European theocratic cultures. The suffering of hell is referred to infinite in these theocratic cultures in Europe (like Christianity, but also mid-east religions Judaism and Islam, both of which are the precursors to Christianity)

I just mean our earthly bodies. Honestly I don't really care wether or not heaven or the afterlife is real. It would be nice if it was but if it wasn't all our speculations and the time we have used on thinking and talking about it would be for nothing. Aren't there a type of hallucination caused when not enough oxygen is getting to the brain? Not a stroke or a seizure though it probably is connected to the phenomenon of not being able to move when you wake up and seeing hallucinations made of distorted shadows.

Catholicism is the largest and oldest branch of Christianity, purgatory is still mentioned in Lutheran Christianity and in the bible, but Protestants tend to focus less on purgatory and more on heaven and Jesus. Most of England and US Christians are protestant, while Germans are mostly Lutheran and the romance nations (France, Italy, Spain) are mostly Catholic, while Slavic and Balkan nations are mostly Eastern orthodox (except for Poland), there are exceptions to all these though since a lot of people are agnostic or atheist as well. Purgatory is simply just mentioned in the bible.

That's just according to the Christian bible and the Torah I think, where Israel's successors became the nation of Israel and Ishmael's successors became the Arab and Islamic nations. In Islam there is also a dispute about the successors of Mohamed, which culminated in the differences between Sunni and Shia Islam.
