but no srsly, start with Mint. maybe move on to something like Arch later on, but at this point you should try normie-friedly distros.

the distro doesn't matter at all, there isn't really a good distro, but there are bad distros, as weird as that sounds

Only three that matter are Ubuntu (and its DE variants such as Xubuntu), Debian, and Gentoo. If this is your first distro, I recommend just using Ubuntu (or Xubuntu since it has XFCE which is better than the more bloated GNOME). Or if you're really opposed to Ubuntu for some reason, then Debian should be okay too. Gentoo is one of the best if you're an advanced user since it's pretty lightweight and doesn't have Systemd, but for a beginner I would not recommend it.

Kali is a very good tool for pentesting
And it does have a lot of precompiled programs
Some of them are pain in the ass to get working

Ubuntu studio if you like editing video/sound, animating, drawing and all that kind of shit...

It's surprisingly fast and gets rid of most of the garbage that ubuntu has by default, and also comes with every editing software you'd need already installed by default (if so you choose).
