Reddit is better as a forum to discuss specific things such as hobbies and events, get to know other people and other things in a non time consuming manner because you can always check out the threads later and you're not in a rush to prevent 404. 4chan is better if you want to waste lots of time arguing with your computer alone in your room and forget everything the next day.
It's a matter of personal preference.
