>>4313165>>4313232I own guns and I agree with some tighter gun control, but not taking away certain firearms or outlawing firearms. The process I had to go through buying firearms was already well developed. You get a NCIS back ground check right there in the shop, through the phone live real time instantly (this is required for every legal gun purchase in the US, but criminals can easily avoid this by buying firearms second hand on the streets). You then fill out a form 4473, providing your social security number, all contact info, fill out a section on your mental health and legal background (have you ever been diagnosed with any mental illness, ever been arrested etc etc., if you lie on this you can go to jail), after both of those you fork over the cash and take your firearm home in the same day.
The restrictions that I would approve as a gun owner, is way tighter crackdown on illegal gun sales, eg. have more registration for firearms to keep track of which gun owners sell their guns to a 3rd party. I would also support a ban on 3rd party gun sales (non FFL holding citizens that sell their guns to other citizens without them getting a background check). I also wouldn't mind more intrusive background checks, since I am lawful owner of firearms I don't mind jumping through a couple extra hoops (but criminal do mind that and will avoid them). No politician has currently proposed anything like these, which is the real problem.
