>>4326853The checks and balances have worked for 240 years and still work, the president is chief of the executive branch and has a check-balance relationship with the senate and congress (which we vote in, along with voting for the pres.), the legislative branch has the power to override any un-constitutional thing the President does, such as his Muslim ban for example, it was taken down 2 times, revised to be more constitutional and put back up when those problems were resolved. The squabbling is party squabbling, the worst kind, so whichever party controls the most of the seats get to make the big decisions, just like any other republic in the world.
No one wants to be isolated for that long, you already have a shit economy, and pour all of your spare money into the military. If Russia legitimately gave up it's cold war aggression and kept its word with its treaties (START II, Putin just violated it with his revealing of hyper-sonic nuclear weapons point at the US). Then Russia and the US and Europe could get along like they should be in the post cold war era. You often perceive our military bases and deployments in NATO countries to be directed at you, which they are, and that's because of the shit Russia pulls off in this day and age without any repercussions, like Crimea and Georgia. China and Russia also spy on their citizens for security, at least the US goes out and says it is with the NSA. Those protests you do, will do nothing to change your government so long as the people keep supporting Putin, try and imagine a government without him, you can't, he's been there for almost 20 years now. Which is why our checks and balances work to prevent situations like that from becoming a reality here
