I have a week (about) 10 days vacation in August and was wondering if I should visit California (LA, SF and SD) or Alaska (by train)

ALASKA. Alaska is a much more scenic place and there's not many people there. Cali, however, is crammed with tourists and stinks of pollution.

Alaska has fucking millions of mosquitos in the summer and there are bears and all sorts of things that can kill you. It's not really an easy place to visit without some serious pre-planning. California is easier but LA is a shithole, SF and SD are decent, SF is probably the best place to visit. It has cool history, lots of things to do, and good weather. It's really what you want to see, if you are looking for nature go to Alaska if you are looking for fun times in cities with people go to CA.

Depends if you're an /out/ist go to alaska. If you want big crowds and lotsa shit to see and do go to cali but expect to spend alotta $$$. SD os cool. LA is meh but the beaches are awesome. Check out Venice beach for all the weirdos. SF is awesome but expensive

Not sure because I live in Anchorage, but probably not that much depending on your budget.
