Yes I have, but mostly put it on my sunburns that I get in the God-forsaken deserts of the American southwest. Prickly pear cactus taste actually very good btw, some people grill it some boi lit, and some eat it raw, and I've eaten all 3 styles, some people also make tequila out of the fruits.

Hordes of people go offroading into the desert to harvest Prickly pear fruits where I live. They use them mostly for Prickly pear Tequila, which is the only thing cacti related that I haven't tried yet. Some people actually make pretty good money harvesting Prickly pear fruits and making the Tequila and selling it, it's seasonal though.

They're aren't really heatwaves since Phoenix gets 120F (49C) at least for one day every single year. I lived in the Sonoran desert for 15 years, so I have a very high heat tolerance but I can still get sunburned in 20 mins in the AZ sun. I've been in the mountains of central AZ for the last 5 years now and the weather is much nicer in the mountains, still gets 110F (44C) in summer where I'm at though (1060m ASL, 3,500ft).

The deserts are bland and boring, but there is a section of AZ that is larger than the state of Vermont that is completed forested and mountain, almost every tourist skips over this or doesn't realize it, even many Arizonans don't realize what beauty is in the mountains.

Arizona is also the 2nd driest state in the US (New Mexico is the driest). But when you are in the mountains you can find flowing freshwater springs and streams year round. I found this one at 6,000ft (1800m).
