In Stalingrad it was impossible to regroup, the city was an urban hellhole and fighting was complete chaos. Besides even if they could have regrouped effectively it wouldn't have been worth it because losing even an inch of land was disastrous.

They would go in pairs, one with the gun and the other with ammo. One would fall and the other would pick up the ammo/gun left behind.
He was woefully unequipped to arm his soldiers and they paid the price for his mistake.

Yes because Stalingrad was the last big city in the soviet union. If they lost that they would lose the war. Desperate times call for desperate measures and you cant blame Stalin for doing what needs to be done. And why is he to blame for not preparing for a surprise attack?
