I think there is a certain level of separation you need to have with online friends. Some can become your best friends and be the most important people in your life. I have plenty of interactions in real life. Probably as many as I do in bant.
My largest problem is trying to connect with people. To feel like someone in this site is like me. Unfortunately when I peel back the veneer what lies beneath is not like me and I can't connect with it. Sucks to be able to communicate with so many people but never connect desu.

I can't honestly say I've ever connected with a friend. All my friendships are very superficial. They for some reason connect with me but I don't connect with them. I'll hangout with them and put in the work for friendship learning their interests and trying to join them in their hobbies but it never gets reciprocated.
That's the best way to put it.
I don't feel that anyone will reciprocate the way I feel about them when I do take an interest in them.

I know that feeling. I put so much time into trying to feel like I fit in and that my friends cared in high school. It was hard to get over the fact that they just didn't feel the same. It's only lately that I realized that things just don't work out how you want. It's not worth it to burn yourself out trying to make someone like you. Let things take their time and build up to what can be a great friendship. Trust and platonic love take time to cultivate.
