Society as a whole today is relying far too much on being carried forward by external factors instead of actually making a concerted effort to improve psychologically and philosophically.
It's all about waiting for some once in a lifetime abnormality of intelligence to come along and bestow upon us a new perspective or new knowledge we can use to improve our comfort.
