I expected a flower to be answered, i.e. cherry blossom for us, but united flowers represents America better. Your answer is pretty good. Forget-me-not for Alaska, or Poppy weed for California are pretty good representations of the state. While I wonder the placement has any meaning? I don't know where the Alabama is, but I know other famous states. In my image, Hawaii is left center, Texas is center bottom, California is bottom left, NewYork is right center.
