But yeah, eventually the soft th letter (which was called “eth”) went out of use, and thorn was used for both th sounds. We also didn’t have a w for a long time and people would just use two u’s like “uuent” and “uue”. We also had a single letter for the “ng” sound that looked something like this ŋ. So “kiŋ” was how you would spell “king”.
