Stability is not the only virtue of a system of government, and no society in all of human history has offered a better quality of life to the average citizen than the modern west. Every system of government is prone to corruption and exploitation. If you think monarchies were free of this, then you are a dumbass. The only reason they were able to last such a long time is because people didn't have rights, so they were able to restrict the flow of information and suppress dissent. This hardly made it a better system than what we have now.
