I'm B1 right now. I've learned it for a few years with a personal teacher and I’ve used Duolingo in parallel. I have spoken a lot with that teacher, but I don't read much in German and I wouldn't understand much of it anyway. Don't let people tell you grammar is hard, it isn't harder than that of English (much easier in some areas and much harder in others; you might have some problems with cases since they are pretty much irrelevant in English, but not so much in Romanian); the real challenge (for me) is vocabulary and, to a lesser degree, genders. Grammar is finite, vocabulary is not.

My tip is to watch German movies, first with subtitles and then you'l get to a point where you don't need them at all, no matter what accent.
It was the same for me and English, watching all those unsynched movies really helped a lot, especially with the different English/American accents.
