Pierre was lying on an old discarded bench somewhere in a never-ending trash dump. Besides him was his worn-out but trusty accordion, a testament to better times. He lied there with closed eyes and thought about how he was going to suvive another day. What to eat, where to sleep, how to make money. While he was thinking, he heard rubbish getting knocked over. Nothing special, he thought, probably a rat or some stray cat. But then he heard footsteps and soon enough, he felt a hot breath being blown in his dirty hair. He opened his eyes and saw a weird scene. Two beady blinking eyes looked at him while a small tounge was hanging from the creatue's moustached mouth. Pierre blinked for a fwhile and then shot up straight, jumping over the bench. He covered behind it while peeking at the weird creature. The 'thing' distanced itself from him, climbed up a knocked-over rusty refrigirator and sat down cross-legged, staring at him and then at the accordion. Pierre raised his eyebrow and pointed at the instrument, gesturing playing it. The creature smiled pleasently and nodded with his head. Pierre looked at the creature and shrugged, taking the old accordion and playing it. He played and played and saw that the lil' beast loved it, taking in every note and melody like a sponge does with water. Pierre smiled. For the longes of times, a genuine satisfied smile was plastered over his face. He forgot about hunger, sleep and money. When he played on the streets for money, people merely gave him a glance or threw him some coins, but now, he had real audience, even if it's a weird fur-covered critter. And so, he played on and on while the lil' fellow listened all night, the lights of the city shining in the distance, illuminating the strange but heart-warming scene.
