The answer of course is blindingly obvious, but not to them, and that's why they kill themselves once they hit "the wall". It gets even worse if they can't have kids or try and replace that need to nurture with pets, which is their biological clock screaming at them to have kids. But of course they ignore it and wonder why they fall into spirals of depression, self-medication with prescription or illegal drugs and eventual suicide when they realise they've been sold a lie and there's no turning back. It's sad because they've been tricked but they're too stupid and/or stubborn to admit this.
