Russia had a treaty with Serbia and declared war on Austria-Hungary, Germanys treaty with Austria-Hungary meant they had to declare war on Russia, France had a treaty with Russia so they declared war on Germany.
Belgium was not involved until the Germans tried to march through their country to attack France, the British declared war on Germany for invading Belgium. The Germans made the Turkish chose between them and the British when the British navy chased a German warship into Istanbul! The Turkish chose to join the Germans. Romania and Italy joined the British and French when they promised them lands if they did so.
So they literally didn't do what you think, maybe you should study! A fail in history would look bad!
