They live in a small town and when they introduced me to people or we went out and they mentioned I was visiting from Canada, people did all kinds of really warm things. At restaurants it was free beers, etc.
I'm in BC and there's definitely lots of friendly people, but people seem so much more guarded and reserved, even compared to Washington.
