Unless there's some program you need that absolutely doesn't have a Linux version or substitute and won't run in Wine (dual boot at first to test shit out), it's just a simpler, more private and secure way to run your shit. There's less bells and whistles, but there's also way less bullshit. Also you get to be a neckbeard snob, which is fun.
If you want something that still feels mostly like Windows, Linux Mint is a good version to go with.
