>>4792196It was either Speed Racer or Astro Boy, which were somewhat known in America before I was born, or Pokémon, which I have a hunch was probably a much bigger deal when it became widely popular in America, than the previous two were when broadcast in America. Pokémon started the regular introduction and normalization of anime and manga to English-speaking audiences. There wasn't anything quite like it on TV or in video gaming (Which came first?), before the Pocket Monsters arrived. I had every version of the early games, from the Blue and Red versions, to the Yellow version, and up through the Gold and Silver versions. My favorites and most widely-played were the Blue and Gold Pokémon games, as well as the Nintendo 64 games that featured them. To this day, I am still not sure how much of the Pokémon anime series I had actually seen, probably most or all of the 1990s episodes, but little to nothing past 2000, or so. I had lost most of my interest in Pokémon, by 2001 or 2002, having moved onto stuff like Cowboy Bebop, Lupin III, Detective Conan, Ghost in the Shell, InuYasha, Read or Die, and later on, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, and Bleach, among others.
