Can someone in the knowledge please explain this to me: The word for "kiss" in Japanese is "kisu"... Now clearly this is a loan word for English, but am I expected to believe that the Japanese didn't have a word for "kiss" for centuries before any protracted contact with the Western world took place? Surely there is an older Japanese word for "kiss", right?
