>>4886208>>4886179>>4886167well out of a desire to leave something, beauty, aesthetics, etc. like you'd have rich folks commission works of art in previous times. yeah, there are better ways to spend your money, but i think he's probably wondering why the desire to build architectural marvels like that seems to be gone. a skyscraper might be impressive, but i don't think anybody would argue it's as attractive as a castle. shit, it doesn't even have to be a work related building, instead of a mansion or a villa, they can build a small castle.
it's probably related to the fact that most current rich folks don't consider themselves part of a multi-generational dynasty and they don't think their ancestors can maintain it.
